The back deck of this house was always just that little bit too windy to be able to spend any amount of time out there. By adding a roof and four sides, now the owners spend most mornings and evenings out on the deck.
The brief for this project was to construct a fully enclosed Archgola type canopy with a flat profile roof. The canopy was to provide shelter from the elements, but was not to cut any light from entering into the house.
Outdoor Structures Ltd 80x50mm Aluminium box section framing with 50x50mm purlins gives the canopy a solid and purposeful look. Powder coating was a very close match to the house colour, making the framing look like it belonged. Having the 4 curtains and infill panels in clear PVC, along with a clear polycarbonate roof, light loss is kept to a minimum.
In the back corner a fixed frame was welded together in one piece with a PVC skin stretched over it to fill in the awkward space.
The whole space is now enclosed, and can be enjoyed in any weather, adding an extra room to the house.
